Clarity Surpasses Goals with Continued Growth
September 1, 2014

Leading healthcare plan communications provider grows 106 percent

Madison, CT (September 1, 2014) – Clarity Software Solutions, Inc., leading healthcare plan communications provider recently reported positive growth for 2013 and 2014 to date. The company closed out 2013 with a 63 percent increase in revenue over the previous year and has shown continued success in 2014. To date, an increase of 106 percent from the same time last year has been reported. Clarity launched 2 new products this year including an EOB application to comply with the requirements set forth by the Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and an e-delivery portal, designed to be integrated with a health plan’s member-facing web portal. To manage the ever growing workload, they have continued to expand the internal team, adding 34 new team members in 2014 alone.

“We continue to evolve as an organization by expanding our internal team and our product assortment,” said Steve Mongelli, Chief Revenue Officer, Clarity Software Solutions. “Clarity strives to create products that adapt to changes within the healthcare industry. Our main goal is to ensure that we’re always providing the highest quality customer service and product assortment to our clients.”

The EOB application, which launched in May, was created to ensure compliance with the recent changes to Medicare Advantage plans. Clarity has designed the EOB application to support delivery by claim, monthly or quarterly, which will ensure that all MAOs have the correct tools to stay compliant. Each EOB can be tracked post production with the ability to display each mailed piece, view the distribution date and the content details. In addition, Clarity can also integrate support for commercial plans within the same application, allowing a health plan to manage all EOB communication from a single source.

“Innovation is in Clarity’s DNA. As the healthcare industry evolves, we have to do the same to ensure that our clients have all the tools they need to be successful,” said Mongelli. “We will continue to be innovative and stay ahead of the curve.”

The e-delivery portal gives members access to all of their healthcare documents, including their membership ID cards. It was created as a tool for healthcare providers that do not have access to their own member-facing web portal or to supplement an existing web portal with a single sign on and consistent look and feel. It allows them communicate important healthcare documents with their customers. The e-delivery portal enables users to brand their communications and customize specific member information within each piece.

This year alone, Clarity has already brought on 34 new team members, in addition to the 20 brought on in 2013. The growth of the team in last year resulted in a 43 percent increase in staffing over 2012. Within less than 2 years, Clarity has added 54 talented individuals to their organization.

“It’s exciting to continue to bring on talented people that support our core business objectives and have a passion for technology,” said Dan Schlaff, Chief Operating Officer, Clarity Software Solutions. “We look for candidates that are committed to providing exceptional customer service and thrive in a rapidly growing company.”

Clarity Named to Inc. 5000 List of Fastest-Growing Companies for Third Consecutive Year
August 25, 2014

Ranked no. 1079 with three-year sales growth of 414 percent

Madison, CT (August 25, 2014) – Clarity Software Solutions, Inc., a leading healthcare plan communications provider, was named to the 2014 Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies for the third consecutive year. The company received a ranking of 1079 with three-year sales growth of 414 percent. Clarity continues to demonstrate positive growth and shares this elite recognition with other industry leaders that gained early exposure on the list such as Yelp, LinkedIn and Zillow.

“It’s an honor to rank on the Inc. 5000 list for the third consecutive year,” said Sean Rotermund, President, Clarity Software Solutions, Inc. “Our continued recognition is a testament of our teams’ dedication, not only to Clarity, but to our clients. We could not be successful without our growing client base. We recognize that without them, success would not be possible and we plan to continue on this path, exceeding our goals in years to come.”

The average company on the list achieved an astonishing three-year growth of 516 percent. The aggregate revenue of those on the Inc. 5000 list is $211 billion and those same companies have generated 505,000 jobs over the past three years.

"What surprises me, even though I know it’s coming, is the sheer variety of the paths our entrepreneurs take to success, thematically reflecting how our economy has evolved,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “This year there are far more social media and far fewer computer hardware businesses than there were, say, six years ago. But what doesn’t change is the fearsome creativity unleashed by American entrepreneurship.”

Methodology
The 2014 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2010 to 2013. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2010. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent--not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies--as of December 31, 2013. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2010 is $100,000; the minimum for 2013 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.'s September issue. They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at www.inc.com/5000.

Clarity Announces the Launch of Explanation of Benefits Application
April 1, 2014

Ensuring compliance for Medicare Advantage Organizations

Madison, CT (April 1, 2014) – Clarity Software Solutions, Inc., leading healthcare plan communications provider announced the launch of an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) application created specifically for Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAOs). Designed based on requirements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the new EOB product will ensure compliance for all clients that service those insured through Medicare Advantage plans. Launched in May, this product has provided Clarity’s client’s with confidence that they are receiving materials that are complaint with all standards set within the healthcare industry.

“Compliance is a priority at Clarity,” said Dan Schlaff, Chief Operating Officer, Clarity Software Solutions. “Within the healthcare industry, it’s extremely important to be knowledgeable of upcoming changes and immediately apply them to our offerings. If we don’t currently have a solution, we have the talented professionals at Clarity that can make it happen.”

Changes set forth for Medicare Advantage EOBs required Clarity to review its current offering and ensure it was compliant with the new standard. Per the changes set forth by CMS, MAOs are required to send EOBs either monthly or on a per claim basis with quarterly summary statements. To comply with this requirement, Clarity has designed the EOB application to support delivery by claim, monthly or quarterly, which will ensure that all MAOs have the correct tools to stay compliant.

The purpose of the Medicare Advantage EOB application was to create a “one-stop-shop” where clients could manage all that goes into creating and distributing an EOB while staying within the requirements set forth by the CMS. Each EOB can be tracked post production with the ability to display each mailed piece, view the distribution date and the content details. In addition, Clarity can also integrate support for commercial plans within the same application, allowing a health plan to manage all EOB communication from a single source.

“Simplicity is important to our clients,” said Glenn Morin, Chief Product Officer, Clarity Software Solutions. “They want to make the process as easy as possible for their customers. This user friendly EOB allows our clients to remain complaint and provides their customers with a product that’s easy to navigate.”

The list is made up of 35 companies split into two categories: 20 small/medium-sized companies (15-199 US employees) and 15 large-sized companies (200 or more US employees). Clarity Featured in Forbes: Software Services Provider for Health Insurers Among Fastest-Growing Private Companies

Madison, CT (September 30, 2013) – None of Clarity Software Solutions' clients were surprised to find the company near the top of Inc. magazine's exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies for 2012. The expanding list of national and regional health insurance companies had already given Clarity a solid "thumbs up," with 100 percent saying they would recommend the document management and distribution services provider to others. A remarkable 2,813.4 percent growth rate over the past three years placed Clarity in the #107 spot on the Inc. 500|5000 (#4 in the Business Products and Services industry segment and #3 in Connecticut). In 2012 alone, the company added more than a dozen commercial, Medicare and Medicaid insurance companies of all sizes, bringing its clientele to over 80. In the same year, over 35 percent of existing clients extended their partnership with Clarity by adding new product solutions as their communication needs increased. Adding resources and staff, Clarity recently relocated to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Madison, Connecticut.

"Our growth is a testament to our ability to deliver on the promise of cutting-edge technology and world-class service," says Clarity President and CEO Sean Rotermund.

Rotermund founded Clarity in 2007 to fill a need for on-demand document management, composition and communications delivery to insurance providers. "Few industries are as communication-dependent as health insurance," he says. "We get that. We make it easy for health plans to create customized pre-sales materials and enrollment kits to drive participation and revenue. We greatly reduce the administrative burden of producing various post-sales documents such as ID cards, EOCs, SBCs, EOBs and more."

"It's been quite refreshing to work with a vendor that continues to be innovative with product/service offerings, while keeping up with all the industry standards and requirements. It's nice to know that we are just as important to your business after a few years as we were when we first came onboard!" –Clarity client

Clarity is valued by clients as a trusted partner. Its solutions eliminate the need to build and operate costly in-house systems by providing a single, hassle-free touchpoint for generating custom documents that ensure compliance with the still-fluid healthcare regulations. Equally important, Clarity's solutions allow for distribution of communications across all media – print, Web or mobile. "Our clients can tap into the value of using smartphones and tablets to improve both sales and customer service – a benefit younger policyholders increasingly expect," says Rotermund. "We constantly focus on industry trends like mobile applications and adapt to provide impactful solutions that create efficiencies and manage costs."

Clarity's Keeping Health Plans Compliant Through SBC Solution

Guilford, CT (February 20, 2012) – Clarity Software Solutions, Inc. (Clarity) announced today the launch of its SBC solution to help health plans manage the Affordable Care Act requirement that mandates the creation of a uniform summary of benefits and coverage. Clarity is the cutting edge provider of on demand services supporting customized communications for the healthcare industry. Clarity earned this reputation through game-changing technology innovations and a relentless focus on customer service. Clarity's product offerings include: SBCs, ID cards, Integrated and Variable Kitted Products, Personalized Correspondence (EOBs, Statements), and Electronic Delivery of Communications (to web and mobile).

Under section 2715 of the Public Health Service Act, created by section 1001 of the Affordable Care Act and implemented in the new rules, health insurers and group health plans will have to provide uniform information about health plan benefits and coverage through a Summary of Benefits and Coverage (“SBC”) and a list of definitions (called the “Uniform Glossary”) that explains terms commonly used in health insurance coverage such as “deductible” and “co-payment”.

The new regulations are perfectly supported through Clarity's solution for managing communications. Clarity incorporates the uniform SBC template and integrates your system data to create the necessary plan specific designs required by your pre and post-enrollees. The web application easily allows your staff to create design changes on the fly to meet timely multichannel distribution requirements for sales, renewals, plan changes or on demand member requests. The Clarity Solution keeps health plans compliant and reduces the administrative burden of building systems internally and allows them to focus on the business of providing healthcare.

“Clarity is at the forefront of understanding the challenges health plans face when managing the varied communications that are required to service their members.” said Sean Rotermund, CEO and President of Clarity. “We have prided ourselves on being able to recognize market conditions, evaluate the needs of the industry and ensure we provide timely, future-focused solutions for our clients. The launch of our SBC solution underscores our commitment to those goals.”

Clarity Launches Mobile ID Cards For Providence Health Plan

Guilford, CT (August 31, 2011) – Providence Health Plan, working with Clarity Software Solutions, has launched its first smartphone app with the introduction of the mobile ID card app now available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry smartphones. Members can now access a current, electronic version of their member identification card at any time on a mobile device.

The new app allows members to view an image of their member identification card for display at a provider’s office. The card image also can be emailed or faxed directly to the provider. Electronic ID cards are also available for anyone else on the member’s policy, including a spouse and/or dependents.

“We recognize that smartphones and other mobile technologies are changing the way we interact with members,” says Barbara Christensen, chief sales and marketing officer for Providence Health Plan. “We continue to seek additional opportunities to ease the way for members and all patients who utilize Providence services.”

The smartphone app is available for all Providence Health Plan members, including members with employer-group coverage, individual and family, Medicare and Medicaid members.

To protect members’ security, the app requires the member identification number and a separate personal identification number, or PIN, to initially login to the app. In addition, providers will still require picture ID when receiving health care services and determine eligibility of plan benefits.

To access the app and receive information about obtaining a PIN, visit www.providence.org/php/smartphone or call Providence Customer Service at 503-574-7500 or 800-878-4445.

Presbyterian Health Plan Partners with Clarity for pre and post-sale Member Kits

Presbyterian Health Plan Partners with Clarity for pre and post-sale Member Kits

Albuquerque, NM (June 1, 2010) – Clarity Software Solutions, Inc., the cutting edge provider of on demand services supporting customized communications for the healthcare industry, has been selected by Presbyterian Health Plan and Presbyterian Insurance Company, Inc. (Presbyterian) to manage their sales kits and their new member welcome kits.

“The ability to attract new business starts with being able to publish clear and relevant information about our offerings,” said Lauri Michael, Presbyterian's Commercial Marketing Manager. “Working with Clarity for our group and individual sales kits allows us to present up-to-date and targeted information through print on demand solutions. Our sales team is able to create new versions of materials that speak to the opportunity and bulk order them as necessary. It avoids stockpiling materials that often become obsolete.”

Once members have enrolled in coverage, Presbyterian is using Clarity's solution to produce new member kits. “The new member experience relies on organizing a lot of important and accurate benefit information in a comprehensive package,” said Troy Samora, Presbyterian's HIO Director of Benefit Administration and System Configuration. “Through our partnership with Clarity, new members will be able to clearly understand all of the details and benefits our plans have to offer them,” Samora continued. “Clarity's web-based solution is a great platform to manage all the complex data variables and components that go along with a robust health plan offering and allows us to make kit designs on the fly as our business changes. We're confident that we'll continue to streamline our internal operations as well as enhance our member experience from our relationship with Clarity.”

“Clarity's data-driven communications are built to specifically address the needs of health plans and allow them to control all of the communications on the membership spectrum, from sales to enrollment to administration,” said Sean Rotermund, President of Clarity. “Presbyterian's objectives to deliver quality and dynamic communications cost-effectively are perfectly aligned with ours. We're proud to partner with Presbyterian and look forward to helping expand their reach within New Mexico.”

A kit product integrates multiple communications into a single, bound booklet with personalized member data as needed. This enhances the member experience and staves off the previous and costly practice of sending multiple mailings. A common “welcome kit” may contain communication components such as welcome letters, certificate of coverage, member handbooks, directories, formularies, riders and forms. Clarity Introduces a New Integrated Communication Tool for Health Plans

Clarity Introduces a New Integrated Communication Tool for Health Plans

Guilford, CT (June 1, 2010) – Clarity Software Solutions, a cutting edge provider of on-demand document management and communications delivery services for the health insurance industry, has announced a new integrated communication tool for the health insurance and pharmacy benefits markets.

Called a ‘mini kit’, the format was created to help simplify and streamline the communications process for new health plan members. The mini kit is a smaller, more streamlined version of a traditional post enrollment member kit. It typically includes only pertinent member information such as benefit schedules, drug lists, and claim forms. This significantly reduces print and shipping costs while enhancing the member experience. Integrated with the kit are the members personalized ID cards which have traditionally been mailed separately from member kits. Combining the kit and ID cards invites further savings in postage costs by eliminating a second ID Card mailing. The kit is highly customized by plan design and incorporates personalized member and group information and can include integrated BREs and forms as determined by the clients’ business needs.

The mini kit is printed fully on-demand allowing flexibility for personalization including the table of contents, page numbering and any personal data. Clarity generates the mini kits through its proprietary application which is customized based on individual client's needs. Managing both the kit designs and ID cards through a single application creates efficiencies for organizing materials and enhances health plans abilities to service members by having online access to all production versions of materials that were delivered.

Clarity is continually evolving and looking for new ways to streamline communications for the health insurance industry. The mini kit is a perfect communications solution as it makes the content for members dynamic, relevant and usable while allowing health plans to reduce print and shipping costs. Clarity can also integrate e-delivery capabilities with the mini kit, so health plans can still produce all of the detailed information necessary for membership and facilitate access to it through their member portal. Our turnkey solution creates a seamless member experience that delivers the information they need to access their benefits (such as an ID card), while giving them 24/7 access to the details of their benefits for reference when they have questions.

Clarity's solution for ID cards has given us the tools to meet our requirements while providing top-notch service at the same time. It is a perfect combination.”

“For a health plan such as Health Alliance Medical Plans, with a growing member base and important group contracts, it is critical that they control their communications,” said Sean Rotermund, CEO for Clarity Software Solutions, Inc. “Our application for ID cards allows them to make changes in real time, track the status of their production and update designs as needed since the cards are printed on demand in full-color, as opposed to managing pre-printed stock. We're excited about a long-term partnership with Health Alliance Medical Plans and look forward to supporting their continued growth.”

New shareholder and partner members are being sought among other provider-sponsored and independent health plans. For more information, please visit www.healthplanalliance.org.

Clarity Enriches the Training Experience

Guilford, CT (January 14, 2008) – Clarity is working with many top-flight training organizations to help transform the vast communications that come with the territory of education.  Most training organizations and large corporations with dedicated training departments have an antiquated system of producing the communications needed to train employees.  It is a big task, and one that is usually supported by a system that uses bulk preprinting and warehousing of education materials, customized documents requiring manual assembly into binders or folders and distribution at the precise time when they are needed.

Clarity’s on demand document management application is perfect for creating and distributing your various training communications efficiently and accurately, while integrating with your current business practices and systems:

  • A central, web-based application for secure access no matter where your employees or trainees are located.
  • Create, manage and order materials via the Internet—greatly diminishing physical warehouse and labor costs.
  • View documents online to control workflow and ensure your customers are getting compliant and correct information before the document is sent out.
  • Output your documents to any and all media—print, online, email, CD—and save on distribution, storage and obsolescence costs.

Clarity’s solution for document management is portable by nature. There is no environmental impact in the design and management process, and our clients start with an electronic document when they enter the document-delivery phase. If they choose to continue with electronic delivery, there is no impact from a printing process.

If a client chooses print as the method for delivery, Clarity works with FSC certified partners who offer various environmentally conscious choices, including fully carbon-neutral printing, use of recycled paper, and the use of low-polluting, non-heavy metal inks.

Additionally, Clarity’s solution can reduce the carbon cost of shipping. Instead of printing at one end of the country and trucking or flying it across to your outlets, we can help you find local printers in every market, making delivery distances shorter and more economical.

Yet another benefit of production portability is the near elimination of stockpiling. Instead of producing large quantities of print collateral, print only what you need by taking advantage of on demand printing.
